Hayden
I first started using at eight years old and continued all the way through to age 30. Today, I have been in recovery for four years. I successfully completed drug court, co-founded an NA group, held an H&I position, and served as a Business Chair in the Area Business Committee.
Having said that, here are some of the trials and tribulations I had to go through: I lost both of my parents while in active addiction, and I have two brothers who wouldn't speak to me because of my usage. One of them will talk to me now, but the other still won't. I have been in jail many, many times—years of my life wasted away.
That is why these achievements are so important to me; they represent how far I’ve come from how low I was. Even in those hard times, I was always the one wanting to help others. That is a strong trait that is still in me, and it will be for the rest of my life. I can't help it—I just love to help people. Seeing the lives you've changed at the end of the day is what keeps me going. I am looking forward to helping anyone who is willing to help themselves, and I’m excited to see the transitions that can be made through positivity and reliability.

Kristin
My name is Kristin, and I am 28 years old. I have been sober for four years now. I have three beautiful children, a fiancé, and a 'fur baby' named Chopper. I have a great job, a car, a nice home, and an amazing life—but it didn’t used to be like this.
I struggled with drug addiction for almost seven years. It started with marijuana and pills; then, when I graduated high school, I started using meth. That was always my drug of choice, though that wasn't my only limitation. Honestly, if it could put my feelings on hold or alter my mood and perspective, I would do it.
I lost myself for a good four years. Then, I got pregnant with my first child. I managed to stay clean after I found out I was pregnant, but in the end, I ended up losing her at ten months old due to my addiction. That caused me to fall into drugs even harder; I felt like all hope was lost. I ended up losing my home, my car—honestly, everything. I was homeless for what seemed like forever, always walking around and going from one friend's house to the next.
It wasn’t until I was put on drug court and became pregnant with my second child that the court finally decided I needed to go to rehab. Between drug court and rehab, I felt like I had been saved. I had to put in a lot of hard work. Staying clean isn't easy; it's a choice you make every single day. But I choose me. I chose to fight, and I chose to be happy. I am past wanting to be numb; honestly, feeling is so much better than suppressing. I ended up getting it all back and so much more. I look forward to helping others on their journeys in recovery as well.
